Lucky Stars Info
Lucky Stars
“I got a roof over my head;
Someone to love me in a four-poster bed,
and I can play this here guitar and
Thank my lucky stars!”
Lucky Stars is a charitable program named after Jimmy Buffett’s tune “Lucky Stars”. It reminds us that even though we all have problems and adversity, we have much to be thankful for and there are always others in great need that we can help!
Prior to each month’s PHlocking, we select an organization to be the beneficiary of the Lucky Stars drive. PHlock members are then requested to bring the donated items to the PHlocking for collection. All donated items are taken to the recipient organization by the sponsoring PHlock member(s).
The beneficiaries of Lucky Stars can be recommended by any PHlock member(s) in good standing. The Council is always in need of individuals to sponsor the monthly PHlocking Lucky Stars, and sponsoring is very easy! The first step is to select the organization that you want to help and find out what they are in need of. Once you have your list, communicate it to the Council so it can be posted on our website and included in our PHlockmail. On the evening of the PHlocking, you simply collect all of the donated items and deliver them to your suggested organization. Don’t forget your thank you letter or quote from the organization, and then send that along with a summary of donated items to the Council. Finally, enjoy the great feeling of knowing that you were instrumental in helping others in need and ‘leaving this world a little better than you found it’.
If you have an organization you’d like to sponsor for our Lucky Stars, please send an email to the Keeper of the PHlock, Ray Wortley, at raywortley@mac.com.
