Council of Pheathers Meeting

IN ATTENDANCE:
President Lisa Schott, Vice President Scott Lance, Secretary Laurie Ramsteck, Membership Occifer Mary Libbey, Executive Officer Joe Diluzio, Membership Advocates, Norbert Comacho, Jackie Dorsey and Paul Fraas, Jeff Dubey, Jim Thomas, Jim VanPelt, Josh Ramsteck

CALL TO ORDER:
Lisa Schott called the meeting to order at 7:07pm

SECRETARY’S REPORT:
Laurie Ramsteck reported that the minutes from February were sent out, reviewed and posted to the website. Laurie also asked that any Chair parrots that have thank you letters from their event to please send them to her to put in her binder. A motion was made by Jeff Dubey to accept the report and it was seconded by Jim Thomas and the motion was passed unanimously.

TREASURER’S REPORT:
Colene Clark sent her report via e-mail. We have $5,490.52 in our overall account.

MEMBERSHIP OCCIFER’S REPORT:
Mary Libbey reported that we have added 40 new members since our last report. This large number is due to our Tailgate party! Council discussed and agreed to offer Berry another complimentary family membership for his donation of a refrigerator truck to the tailgate party.

KEEPER OF THE PHLOCK REPORT:
No report this month

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Scott Lance reported that our new updated community service numbers are as follows: 3,857 service hours and $33,828 donated to our charities. Way to go Phlock!! Laurie Ramsteck made a motion to accept the report and it was seconded by Jim VanPelt and the motion was passed unanimously.

EXECUTIVE OFFICER’S REPORT:
Joe DiLuzio reported that he is still looking for our Club’s assets. Will solicit members at the Pig Roast on Saturday. Jim Thomas made a motion to accept the report and it was seconded by Laurie Ramsteck and the motion was passed unanimously.

MEMBERSHIP ADVOCATE’S REPORT:
We had one comment in our suggestion box this month. It was suggested that we have a banner made to put across the door frame at McWells to Welcome members and non-members to our meeting. Lisa to follow up with Chuck about having one made. Jeff Dubey made a motion to accept the report and it was seconded by Scott Lance and the motion was passed unanimously.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Lisa Schott discussed with Council the seeming low turnout at events lately. It was suggested that we bring back the easel board that posted upcoming events and pictures to entice larger turnouts. Council also discussed having a Calendar Review Meeting at our next Council meeting.

Lisa also reported the Rock’n Lake Eola event that was sent to our Council members. We will not actively promote the event as a club.

Bond Insurance – Council discussed and agreed to look into the cost.

Scott Lance made a motion to accept the report and it was seconded by Jim Thomas and the motion was passed unanimously.

OLD BIDNESS:

TAILGATE PARTY RECAP:
Jeff Dubey reported that the tailgate party was a great success! We sold 325 tickets, sold 198 leis, 22 tattoos, made $125 in T-shirt sales and received $800 in donations. A motion was made by Scott Lance to donate $2500 to the Red Cross for Haitian Relief and it was seconded by Jim Thomas and the motion was passed with majority vote. There were 2 no votes.

CORPORTATE 5k RUN UPDATE:
Jeff Dubey reported that the event is April 15th. We have 30 people registered to volunteer so far.

POKER TOURNAMENT RECAP:
Paul Fraas reported that we made $2,504. The event was great and a lot of fun. The money raised will go to the Russell Home.

RELAY FOR LIFE UPDATE:
No update this month

PHLOCKING PHUNDS:
Our raffle monies will go to the Russell Home for the month of March and to Back To Nature Wildlife Refuge for the month of April. Jim Thomas made a motion to accept and it was seconded by Jeff Dubey and the motion was passed unanimously.

NEW BIDNESS:

BOOK REVIEWS:
Laurie Ramsteck suggested that we start a Book Review section on our website. This would review books with a tropical style theme. Council approved and Laurie will get with Mary Libbey for placement on the website.

HEAT PRESS/T-SHIRTS
Chuck Esser has sold the Club’s Heat Press for $350. It was discussed that the money goes toward new Club t-shirts. Discussion was tabled until we get costs and decide how we will implement.

DOWNTOWN HISTORY CENTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EVENT
Scott Lance discussed that this school contacted the Council that they will be performing a tropical themed show on April 29th and were looking for donations. Council agreed to donate some leis.

FLORIDA REGIONAL LEADERS CONFERENCE:
Mary Libbey announced that the meeting will be August 13-15 at the Day’s Inn in Punta Gorda. At this time, there is no limit to the number of Council attendees.

A motion to adjourn was made by Jeff Dubey and it was seconded by Scott Lance and the motion was passed unanimously.
